Launch event raised £94,000!
A dinner was held on Tuesday 12th May 2015 at York Racecourse to launch The Jessica Bethell Charitable Foundation. The Foundation was set up in 2012 following the tragic death due to meningitis of Jessica Bethell, the charismatic, much-loved daughter of James and Sally Bethell of Middleham.
Our guests of honour at the dinner were television personality and former Countdown star Carol Vorderman, and Matt Chapman who both compered the evening and the auction, while representatives from the charity’s Meningitis Research and Jack Berry’s House also attended the dinner.
Thanks to the huge generosity of all the donors, the funds raised from the event are in excess of £94,000.
The proceeds from this first event will be divided between The Meningitis Research Foundation and Jack Berry House, the recently completed Injured Jockeys Rehabilitation Centre at Malton, North Yorkshire. The Trustees of the Foundation feel these causes are completely fitting with Jessica’s memory, combining her total love and involvement in the racing world with the need to help fund invaluable research into the deadly disease.
